Orioles vs. Rays game preview and lineups for 8/19/2013

New, comments

The Orioles start a three-game series tonight against the Rays and I think we'd all agree that this is their most important series so far this season.

USA TODAY Sports

This series has the potential to be awesome for the Orioles or to be devastating. And since I personally find the Rays' pitching staff to be terrifying, I'm very worried about the devastating possibility.

Tonight's pitching matchup is Chris Tillman vs David Price. To read about each player's history with the opposing team, check out Vuff's most excellent series preview.

The Orioles have already faced Price twice this season, but that was before Price went on the disabled list and was getting knocked around by a lot of teams. But don't worry, the Orioles have brought up a secret weapon: Danny Valencia! Valencia was just called up today to replace Josh Stinson on the roster, and he's in the lineup tonight. In his career, Valencia is a career 7-for-10 with 2 walks against Price, so if he gets a hit tonight be prepared to hear Jim Hunter or Mike Bordick say, "That's why he's here!"

Here are the lineups for tonight's game. Note how low Nick Markakis has dropped. On one hand, it's about time. On another hand, it's sad. But check out Brian Roberts back at leadoff! Somebody cue the Biggie Smalls.
