Having spent one of the season's final off days contemplating how to repeat Wednesday's success, the Orioles welcome the A's to town for a weekend series. In what seems like a pivotal series (and at this point, aren't they all?), the O's can narrow or eliminate the distance between the A's and the O's in the race for the second wild card spot. The A's have been solid all year, but are under .500 in August.

On this day in 1989, multiple former Orioles were involved in a legendary 22 inning game in which the Dodgers outlasted the Expos 1-0. Dennis "El Presidente" Martinez took the loss when Rick Dempsey hit a solo home run in the top of the 22nd. Eddie Murray was 3-9 on the day.
