So far, so good...so what? The O's have did what they needed to do last night. In spite of their best efforts to give the game away Danny Valencia, Chris Davis, and the bullpen raged, raged against the dying of the light. With TB losing the O's remain 2 games out from both Wild Card spots. However, the Royals allowed the Tribe to overcome a 3-0 deficit and comeback to win, thus the O's remain 1.5 games back of Cleveland. The Birds did get some breathing room between themselves and the other hangers on, as both the Royals and Yankees lost to fall a game and a half back of the O's and 3.5 games out of the Wild Card hunt. Stay strong KC and NY. The O's will have use of you yet. The Yanks still have a 3 game set with TB ahead of them. While KC needs to step up and finish off the Tribe tonight before taking on the Rangers over the weekend.

The O's aren't the only club full of hackers.
On this date in 1976, Indians Player-Manager Frank Robinson takes his last major league at-bat and hits a single vs. the O's. In 1988 Bob Milacki makes his debut and tosses an 8 innings of 1 hit shutout ball. One year ago today, the O's and Mariners play an 18 inning game which saw the Birds comeback from a 2 run deficit in the 9th to tie the game, and a Taylor Teagarden pinch hit single to win it. Dylan Bundy will be recalled to bolster the bullpen early the next morning.
