***SOFT TOSSING LEFTY ALERT...SOFT TOSSING LEFTY ALERT***
Yes, that's right. If the Orioles are to win tonight, they'll have to go through John Danks, a lefty whose average fastball velocity is under 90.
After missing most of 2012 with an injury, Danks is back in 2013 and has put up an ERA+ of 99, meaning that he's just about league average in that department. His FIP is 4.81 which is noticeably higher than his 4.38 ERA. He's had success this year with not walking many batters, but has given up 23 home runs in 122 innings, about 1.7 per nine.
Scott Feldman is starting for the Orioles, and is coming off of a good start against the Yankees. He's actually given up two or less runs in each of his last four starts, but he has trouble pitching late into the game. But given what we saw from Feldman not long after he was traded to the team, I'll take what he's been doing lately.
Let's go O's!
