ALCS Game 3 Game Thread: Orioles (0-2) @ Royals (2-0), 8:07

It's do or be nearly dead time for the Orioles on Tuesday night against the Royals. Win and start to claw this thing back. Lose and have both feet in the grave, waiting for someone to throw dirt on top of you.

Patrick Smith

The Orioles are finding themselves backed into a corner. They'll have to get past old friend Jeremy Guthrie if they are going to get out of that corner. Also maybe they could have a non-terrible starting pitching performance, that would also really be helpful in this regard. It's all up to you, Wei-Yin Chen.

I looked at Chen's numbers with 6+ days of rest, hoping to be heartened, but actually in 10 starts he made with 6+ days of rest, he had a 4.12 ERA. I'm trying to have a good feeling over here. Sheesh.

Still, I stand by what I wrote in addressing Jarrod Dyson's smack talking. We have seen the best of the Royals in these playoffs. We haven't seen the best of the Orioles yet. The best of the Orioles can beat the best of the Royals. It's no sure thing we'll get that best vs. best, of course. That's not how baseball or life works. It might, though, and if it does, this series could swing back towards the Orioles very quickly.

Until it does, I'll just be over here eating directly out of this pint of ice cream.
