1889 - Baltimore drops out of the American Association and joins the Atlantic Association.

1959 - The Orioles trade P Billy Loes and Billy O'Dell to the Giants for P Gordon Jones, OF Jackie Brandt, and C Roger McCardell. O'Dell will win 56 games for the Giants.

1972 - Twelve transactions, involving 36 players, take place. Among those sent to new clubs is Orioles 2B Davey Johnson going to the Braves.

2000 - The Yankees sign Orioles free agent P Mike Mussina to a six-year contract worth $88.5 million. Mussina says a deciding factor was a call from Joe Torre. Apparently, Mike Hargrove did not yet own a phone.
