It's the last MASN game of the spring. Oh no! It's probably your last chance to see Brian Matusz starting a game, too. It seems unlikely that he'd be starting a game in the regular season except in the most dire of circumstances. That's what it would take for that to seem like a good idea. Wholesale injury or failure of several guys in front of him. Even then it wouldn't be a good idea; it would just be desperation.
Maybe Matusz starting has something to do with the fact that it's the Red Sox and you know Buck has that thing about not wanting his divisional rivals to see too much of his regular rotation during spring training.
This is another lineup that looks a lot like an Opening Day lineup, or at least the first seven spots or so. Do you think Buck is leaning towards Markakis and Hardy at the top? Markakis could be a non-terrible leadoff hitter, but Hardy does not seem like he gets on base enough to deserve to be that high in the order. On the other hand, if not him, then who?
Also, there will preferably be no Delmon Young in the lineup or on the roster at any point during the season. There's never been another player that I wanted to see gone before they were even in a game for the team. Even some of my least-liked Orioles who I wanted to see gone, like Kevin Gregg, I only hated them after they stunk. I just want Young to go away.
It's still one week to Opening Day, when these two teams will be playing one another at Camden Yards. You've probably noticed I'm tired of all this exhibition game nonsense. I am sick of it, and of everyone who perpetuates it, but it'll still be two days til they say they're sorry.
