Orioles split-squad doubleheader: O's @ Red Sox, 1:05, O's @ Rays, 7:05

Spring training is winding to an end. Thank goodness. There are two Orioles games on Wednesday. One does not exist on TV or radio. The 7:05 game, against the Rays, will be on the MLB Network.

Today is one of those days where there are two Orioles games. The difference between this and the regular season is that it will be two different Orioles teams playing the games in two different stadiums. These are two of the last three Grapefruit League games. The regular season is almost here and then this fake nonsense will be done with for another year. Thank goodness.

The afternoon game, regrettably, is neither on TV nor radio. It does not exist except in your imagination. Make it a good one.

No one who's in serious competition for one of the remaining open jobs is in the afternoon lineup. It's either players who've made the team or players who are headed to Norfolk or the scrap heap. Even if there was a competition going on, judging anything on one day's results would not be very wise.

But still, it's a chance for the Orioles to beat the Red Sox, and isn't that fun? You might even get to imagine a Chris Davis home run. He's on the road trip. That would be fun too. Even better will be if they win against the Red Sox on March 31. And April 2. And April 3, and...
