Norfolk 6, Durham Bulls 3
That's the stuff. Dominant may not exactly be the word for Kevin Gausman's performance, but five shutout innings is what one might call, if he or she were so inclined, not too shabby. The Goose generated a fair amount of weak contact as indicated by the six groundouts he induced and the infield singles that didn't quite bounce his way. He also struck out four. New kid Preston Guilmet pitched a perfect ninth for his second save. Propers to the defense as they turned three of the Goose's grounders into double plays.
Jemile Weeks has walked eleven times in his last ten games, but hadn't been putting much oomph in his swing. That changed today as Weeks the Younger fell a homer short of the cycle. David Adams and Alexi Casilla of all people homered while Julio Borbon swiped his sixth bag of the young season.
Frederick 1, Carolina Mudcats 6
In the wondrous game of Parker Bridwell Roulette, one never quite knows what to expect. Today was Parker the Inscrutable. Bridwell gave up four hits and walked four, though he struck out four, too, in 4.2 not so lovely innings.
Creede Simpson doubled and homered while Pops Burgess had a pair of singles.

Eddie Gamboa, Tyler Wilson, Jesse Beal, Matt Taylor (Frederick plays two) and Austin Urban take the mound this afternoon and evening.
