Ruth would toss a complete game shutout and go 2-4 at the plate. Facing financial difficulties the owner of the Orioles would sell Ruth (along with two other players) to the American League's Boston Red Sox for $30,000.

It is the birthday of late 90's O's starter Jimmy Key.
