Columbus (Cleveland) vs. Norfolk: PPD (Rain)
This game will (hopefully) be made up later today. Though, judging by the forecast I have my doubts.
Bowie 3 Richmond (Giants) 2
(RHP) Zach Davies took the hill and showed some impressive swing & miss stuff as he garnered 10 Ks (9 of them swinging) through 7 innings of work while holding the Flying Squirrels to just 4 hits and 2 ER. However, he did give up a number of hard hit balls: a double, a triple, and a line drive that went right at 1Bman Christian Walker for an unassisted double play. He also failed to control the ball well, as he walked 5 and plunked 1 batter.
A rather uneventful night in the rain for Baysox hitters. (1B) Christian Walker, (CF) Dariel Alvarez, and ( C ) Michael Ohlman each notched 1 hit. Mr. Ohlman also managed to throw out 1 of 2 stolen base attempts on the night. (DH) Brian Ward managed a 3-4 night.
Walker & Ohlman’s singles each came in the 3 run 9th inning that proved to be Richmond’s undoing. (SS) Niuman Romero and Walker started the inning off with back-to-back singles. Alvarez was then called to sacrifice in order to get the potential tying run into scoring position, which he did with aplomb. A balk brought Romero in for Bowie's first run and put the potential tying run at 3rd with none out. (RF) Chih-Hsien Chiang would single Walker home, and then advance to 2nd on a throwing error by the Richmond Right Fielder. Ohlman's infield single would allow Chiang to move to 3rd with just one out, from whence he would score on Brian Ward's third basehit of the game. A clean 9th courtesy of Oliver Drake gives him 4 Saves on the seeason, and the Baysox proved the victors. Yay!
Carolina (Cleveland) vs. Frederick: PPD (Rain)
As I type this I see that this game's make-up game, scheduled for tonight, has already been cancelled.
