School of Roch: About last night ...
In spite of the loss there seems to be quite a bit to be optimistic about with this club. Can #TeamSteve do an admirable enough job filling in for Wieters? Is Bud all of the sudden the O's co-#StaffAce? Nice way to introduce yourself to Birdland, Preston.
As long as he keeps hitting and framing pitches he'll be a fine fill in.
Well, I'd quibble with calling his start to the season 'strong', seeing as his OPS was solidly sub-.700 for the first three weeks. But he has rebounded to an expected level of late.
No need to rush into anything with any of the players referenced. Hot starts subside, cold starts thaw, and there is and infinitesimally small chance Markakis' option for next season is getting picked up anyway. So see if he's healthy enough to handle a full season and produce at an acceptable level.

The option isn't getting picked up. I think we can all agree on that. But if you were willing to offer an extension, what price in years and dollars are you willing to commit?
Two loses to start this week aren't helping the O's make a case for their ranking here.
While I do think Davis and Jones have the potential to be it, they aren't at the moment.
I think we can all guess one name on one of these lists.
