Orioles minor league rundown - 5/2

It was a clean sweep for the Orioles affiliates last night! Four wins, no losses for the baby Birds.

Christopher McCain/Norfolk Tides

Norfolk Tides 10, Scranton/WB RailRiders 0

It was a good day for the Tides as starting pitcher Eddie Gamboa pitched 7 shutout innings with six strikeouts and one walk, and the offense had thirteen hits on the night.

Every member of the Tides offense had at least one hit, and four had two hits. 3B Brett Wallace and SS Ivan DeJesus were the stars on the night. Wallace had a double and a home run, and  DeJesus had two doubles and a walk. RF Xavier Paul and C Caleb Joseph also doubled.

Bowie Baysox 6, Erie Seawolves 5

Tim Berry started for the Baysox tonight and gave up four runs in six innings. The runs allowed weren't great, but the rest of his stats looked decent. He had five strikeouts against just one walk, and a 7/2 ground out to fly out ratio. He was followed by Jason Gurka, who pitched two perfect innings with two strikeouts. Oliver Drake came in to get the save and gave up a solo home run but held on close it out.

The Baysox offense racked up ten hits and three walks on the night. Four players had two hit nights: 3B Buck Britton, SS Niuman Romero, CF Dariel Alvarez (who had a 2-run HR), and the recently demoted Brian Ward, who also walked in addition to singling and doubling.

Frederick Keys 6, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 4

The Keys scored five runs in the second inning and never looked back. 3B Jason Esposito doubled and tripled, DH Creede Simpson had a home run, and CF Glynn Davis and C Wynston Sawyer also doubled. The Keys racked up six walks on the day, including two by RF Lucas Herbst.

Branden Kline started for the keys and pitched 5 2/3 innings with seven hits and just one earned run allowed. He struck out four, walked two, and had a 7/3 ground out to fly out ratio. Kline was followed by Miguel Chalas, who was roughed up for two runs in 2 1/3 innings, and one perfect inning from Matt Hauser.

Delmarva Shorebirds 4, Charleston Riverdogs 3

It was a good night for starting pitcher Sebastian Vader, who went seven innings with six strikeouts and no walks. He gave up three runs on the night, one of which scored after he left the game. Well done, young Vader! Dylan Rheault and Jimmy Yacobanis each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

CF Josh Hart was on base four times in the game, with three singles and walk. DH Conor Bierfeldt also had a good game with a home run and two walks. 1B Trey Mancini went 2-for-4 with a walk, and CF Mike Yastrzemski had two singles.
