Here's hoping the Orioles slept off whatever malaise was plaguing them in Saturday's game. Maybe it was the residual effects of that Thursday marathon doubleheader. That would certainly be a preferable answer to the O's simply being incapable of beating Kevin Correia. Today they need to beat Phil Hughes, for crying out loud. It's time to do this thing.
The history against Phil Hughes isn't so good for most of the hitters, which is unfortunate indeed. Adam Jones, Matt Wieters, and J.J. Hardy all have a sub-.600 OPS in their careers facing Hughes. Why that may be is one of those great mysteries. How about you buck that trend today, fellas?
For the O's, it's Miguel Gonzalez, rocking a 5.19 ERA so far this year. It hurts. It all hurts.
