The Orioles are off on Monday night, which is a more exciting prospect after watching their poor performance all weekend. Still, even when they're bad, I miss them when they're gone. They could sing that cups song from Pitch Perfect at me and that would be true.
Every team other than the Orioles and the Rays, their opponent tomorrow, will be playing tonight, so there's still some stuff to watch and possibly obsess over how your new fantasy week gets started. Here's the Monday night schedule across MLB:
Twins (14-15) @ Indians (13-18), 7:05
Probable pitchers: Kyle Gibson (MIN), Zach McAllister (CLE)
Cardinals (16-16) @ Braves (17-13), 7:05
Probable pitchers: Shelby Miller (STL), Aaron Harang (ATL)
This is the ESPN game of the night. The fact that Harang has a sub-3.00 ERA shows that there is no justice in the world. The Cardinals rejected a proposed J.J. Hardy for Miller trade in the offseason, which was probably a good idea for them to have done.
Dodgers (18-14) @ Nationals (17-14), 7:05
Probable pitchers: Zach Greinke (LA), Jordan Zimmermann (WAS)
I pity whatever person is so interested in this game that they would willingly subject themselves to Bob Carpenter.
Blue Jays (14-17) @ Phillies (15-14), 7:05
Probable pitchers: J.A. Happ (TOR), Kyle Kendrick (PHI)
Giants (20-11) @ Pirates (12-19), 7:05
Probable pitchers: Yusmeiro Petit (SF), Jeff Locke (PIT)
Astros (10-21) @ Tigers (17-9), 7:08
Probable pitchers: Jarred Cosart (HOU), Max Scherzer (DET)
Mets (16-14) @ Marlins (16-15), 7:10
Probable pitchers: Jonathon Niese (NY), Nate Eovaldi (MIA)
White Sox (15-17) @ Cubs (11-18), 8:05
Probable pitchers: Jose Quintana (CHW), Jeff Samardzija (CHC)
Diamondbacks (11-23) @ Brewers (21-11), 8:10
Probable pitchers: Mike Bolsinger (ARI), Matt Garza (MIL)
Rangers (17-14) @ Rockies (19-14), 8:40
Probable pitchers: Martin Perez (TEX), Jordan Lyles (COL)
Yankees (16-14) @ Angels (15-15), 10:05
Probable pitchers: David Phelps (NY), Jered Weaver (LA)
Mariners (14-15) @ Athletics (19-12), 10:05
Probable pitchers: Chris Young (SEA), Scott Kazmir (OAK)
Royals (14-16) @ Padres (14-18), 10:10
Probable pitchers: Yordano Ventura (KC), Eric Stults (SD)
In the world of hockey, Game 3 of the series between the New York Rangers and Pittsburgh Penguins will get rolling at 7:30. The series is knotted at 1-1. The Los Angeles Kings of Anaheim take a 1-0 series lead into Game 2 of their best-of-seven against the Los Angeles Ducks of Anaheim.
Also, if you like sports where everyone says only the last five minutes matter, and these last five minutes are where the pace of the game completely grinds to an unwatchable halt as foul after foul is handed out, the second round kicks off tonight, with the Washington Wizards and Indiana Pacers tipping off in Indianapolis at 7:00. Some people tell me that the Pacers are extremely disappointing.
Farther out west, the Los Angeles Clippers of Anaheim open up a series against the Oklahoma City Thunder at 9:30.
