It is Sunday, and the forfeit lineup is deployed. How can you tell the difference between the ordinary lineup and the forfeit lineup? The presence of David Lough is one sign. Another is Nick Markakis, designated hitter. A third is that the slumping Manny Machado has been placed back towards the top of the lineup. For a couple of days there, it seemed like there was some progress in moving him down the order, but that does not apply on forfeit Sundays. We can hope he will move back down on Tuesday, or better yet, that he'll hit three home runs today and break out of the slump.
The Orioles are bad in day games, and really bad on Sundays. This has felt like it was true forever, or at least since the glorious Dave Trembley years when they didn't win a Sunday game until like August that one year.
Anyway, it's the last game of the series against the Astros. The O's need to win just to split the series. They will face former Oriole Scott Feldman, who you'd probably rather have back at his price than have Ubaldo Jimenez at his price and draft pick cost. Hindsight is 20/20, as we all know.
