(RHP) Edgmer Escalona got the start and went 5 IP, allowing 3 ER via 4 hits, 2 of which were HRs. He K'd 5. (LHP) Nick Additon came on in relief and got shellacked to the tune of 5 ER allowed over 2 IP via 6 hits and 3 walks. The offense took the night off, generating just 4 hits and 2 walks. Steve Clevenger managed one of those hits.DSL O'sDos 1 DSL Red Sox 13

(RHP) Parker Bridwell remains an enigma. After a string of 4 consecutive strong starts he blew up in his last outing against this same Salem squad. And then he responds tonight with an outing of 7 IP, 4 H, 3 BBs, 1 ER, and 6 Ks. 86 pitches with 49 thrown for strikes and a groundout to flyout ration of 8:5, including 2 GIDPs generated. His inconsistency is frustrating, but the arm continues to flash the potential of a solid mid-rotation starter. I wonder if the 22 year old could find himself the subject of trade rumors come July?

The offense did just enough on the evening, cobbling together 3 runs via 6 hits and a walk. (CF) Glynn Davis went 1 for 4 with his 13th stolen base of the year. ( C ) Zane Chavez accounted for 2 of the Keys runs driven in with a solo HR and a Sac Fly. The recently hot (SS) Adrian Marin was held to an 0 for 3 on the night.

Hickory (Rangers) 15 Delmarva 0

oof. The Shorebirds pitchers got lit up in this game. (RHP) Luc Rennie started. He gave up 7 ER over 4.1 IP. (RHP) Austin Urban came on in relief and yielded 2 over 3 innings courtesy of 4 walks and 2 base hits. And then came (RHP) Williams Louico who allowed 6 ER in an inning and a third. Demoralizing pitching can lead to demoralized hitters, so much like the Norfolk squad the Shorebirds offense called in sick, putting up just 2 hits. The lone bright spot came via an outfield assisted double play when (LF) Gregory Lorenzo threw out a runner at 1st. Nice.

20 year old (RHP) Jose Rosario tossed 5 innings and gave up 7 hits and a walk while striking out 5. But defensive ineptitude (including his own) lead to 3 of his 5 runs allowed being deemed unearned. Rosario and his battery mate, 19 year old ( C ) Alfredo Gonzalez allowed 4 stolen bases on 4 attempts, including 3 to one player.

(1B) Carlos Diaz went 0 for 4 with 2 Ks. (SS) Guillermo Salas had 1 hit in 4 at bats, but also committed 2 errors in the field.
