Orioles minor league rundown - 6/11/14

The Tides were off, the Keys were rained out, and the Baysox and Shorebirds both lost.

Bowie Baysox 3, New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4

The Baysox took a 3-0 lead into the eighth inning, but the Fisher Cats rallied for four runs in the top of the eighth off of Zach Davies. Davies is normally a starter, but was pushed to relief for Miguel Gonzalez to make a rehab start. He pitched two clean innings before failing to retire a batter in the eighth, when he gave up two singles, two doubles, and a home run. Ouch.

As for MiGo, he threw 70 pitches in 4 1/3 innings with four hits and one walk allowed. He struck out five. If he's feeling good today after the start, we could see him pitch against the Rays next week.

On offense, the Baysox scored all three of their runs in one inning, when CF Dariel Alvarez hit a three-run homer with Ronald Bermudez (walk) and Niuman Romero (single) on base. Only three Baysox had hits on the night. Alvaraz had a single in addition to his home run, catcher Michael Ohlman was 2-for-4 with a double, and 3B Niuman Romero was 3-for-4 with a double.

Nolan Reimold played his second straight rehab game for the Baysox, going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. No word yet on how he's feeling after playing two baseball games in a row for the first time since July 12-13, 2013.

Delmarva Shorebirds 3, Hickory Crawdads 5

The Shorebirds had 10 hits on the day but went just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position, leading to just three runs scored. Two of those runs came from solo home runs by catcher Chance Sisco and CF Gregory Lorenzo. Lorenzo and Sisco each had two hits on the night, with Lorenzo adding a double. RF Mike Yastrzemski, who has gone from leadoff to third in the batting order, was 1-for-4 with a double.

Mitch Horacek started for the Shorebirds and gave up three runs in six innings. He struck out seven and walked three, with four hits allowed. Dennis Torres finished the game, giving up two runs in three innings pitched. Torres walked two.
