There was that whole thing before the first time the Orioles faced Masahiro Tanaka where Adam Jones was asked about facing him, and he bristled and asked why they don't ask Tanaka about facing Jones. A couple of months later, it's apparent that Tanaka has been worth the hype. He looks to be worth every dollar that is coming to him. Meanwhile, the Orioles... well, they have Ubaldo Jimenez for 1/3 the cost and 3x the ERA.
Every game feels important to win when you are close in the standings. The O's have already blown one this series. Jockeying for position in the division and wild card standings with the Yankees means they especially should beat the Yankees in direct matchups if they want to stay where they are. Easier said than done. Yikes.
Oh well. Good luck, Chris Tillman. Maybe don't suck today. At least then we can feel good about something if the O's do nothing against Tanaka and still lose.
