It's the middle of July and it's the first time this year that the Yankees will be playing a game in Baltimore. If you're thinking, that's pretty late for that to happen, you're right. The game notes inform me that this is the latest they've played their first game in Baltimore since July 24-26, 2000.
What's more surprising is the teams' place in the standings is not what you'd expect. The Orioles hold a three game lead in the division. The Yankees are barely over .500. The injury bug is a nasty thing.
After the All-Star Break, the Orioles will be hitting the road for a ten-game west coast road trip and they'll play 16 straight games against AL West teams. Those are the good teams this year, so it's all the more crucial that they beat their own divisional foes while they're here at home. Miguel Gonzalez and hitters, it's up to you.
