Norfolk Tides 2, Rochester Red Wings 14
Christian Walker walked and doubled and that's all I really feel like discussing...though it behooves me to mention that Mike Wright allowed six earned runs in 4.2 innings. Ugh. Not the season we were looking for.
Bowie Baysox 3, Altoona Curve 0
Tim Berry twirled quite the dandy. The young lefty allowed three hits and induced 12 groundouts over seven scoreless innings. It was Berry's first scoreless outing of the season and the first time since his first start of the season that he hadn't allowed an earned run. Oliver Drake picked up his 23rd save.
Mike Yastrzemski was kept off base in five plate appearances, but Ronald Bermudez was perfect picking up three singles and a walk in four plate appearances. Garabez Rosa singled, walked and was charged with an error. Berry and catcher Zane Chavez were also credited with pickoffs. I can't find additional pickoff data on Berry, but I feel like this is a talent of his. Can anyone confirm?
Frederick Keys 0, Winston-Salem Dash 5
The Keys were one hit with Glynn Davis representing almost the whole offense. His hit came with one out in the 9th. Tony Bucciferro: denied.
Sebastian Vader struck out six, but also allowed two homers and four earned runs. Jimmy Yacabonis logged his fifth straight scoreless outing in relief of Vader.
Delmarva Shorebirds 4, Hagerstown Suns 5
Drew Dosch had another nice day with three hits extending his hit streak to 13 games. Austin Wynns walked and singled to extend his own hitting streak to 14 games. Josh Hart was hitless in five trips.
Mitch Horacek had a nice outing K'ing eight in five innings. He allowed six baserunners and an earned run.
Aberdeen Ironbirds 3, Mahoning Valley Scrappers 14
The winning streak mounted by the Ironbirds not all that long ago seems like old history at this point. The Ironbirds put 13 men on base and were 4-9 with RISP, but couldn't overcome the hole dug for them by the pitching staff. Austin Pfeiffer had a pair of singles and Jamill Moquete doubled.
2014 draftee David Hess allowed an earned run three innings, but Luc Rennie and Augey Bill allowed 13 earned runs in the following four innings. Hess also induced five earned runs.
