For weeks leading up to the All Star break, a hot topic among Orioles fans was the horrendous 16-game stretch that the Orioles were about to embark on, one that would surely cause them to plummet to at least third place in the AL East. Well friends, we're in the home turn. The final lap. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it turns out that it isn't a train. It's 13 games down, three to go, and the Orioles haven't been half bad! They've gone 8-5 so far and after this weekend they are finished with the AL West until the playoffs. Don't relax, though, because even after the Mariners leave town the O's have a lot of tough baseball ahead of them.
But first things first. The Orioles are facing lefty Roenis Elias, who gave up one run in five innings against the Orioles last week. Hopefully their second time seeing him will go a little better.
Chris Davis is back in the lineup tonight, swapped for the equally slumpy Steve Pearce. And if you're looking for an adventure, look no further than Delmon Young in left field. Other than that the lineup is pretty typical for the O's.
Austin Jackson is leading and playing center field off for his new team tonight, which means that Bizarro Adam Jones isn't in the lineup. That's too bad. That guy really can't hit.
When last we saw Wei-Yin Chen, he was shutting out the Mariners over eight innings, and looking damn good. I'll take one more of those, Wei-Yin!
