Orioles GIFs of the Week

The Orioles are short on those "repeatable skills" according to statisticians, but their skill in providing good GIF material seems repeatable to me.

BUCK GETS THE ICE WATER

Buck-ice-water_medium

You may have seen a lot of celebrities, family, and friends on the internet participating in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. In case you haven't, here's the basic rule: When you are named by somebody for the challenge, you either need to donate to the ALS Association or be subjected to the bucket. I'm concerned about the missing donations, quite frankly, because all I see is ice water buckets! I digress.

Here are the Orioles personnel you might expect to participate in such a thing. Resident prankster Adam Jones named Buck Showalter to receive the dousing.

CHRIS DAVIS HOME RUN FANS

Cd-hr-crowd_medium

This is right after a clutch two-run home run from Chris Davis that gave the Orioles the lead and broke open the floodgates in an important division game. Earlier in the game, there was a bumbling defensive sequence by the Orioles that handed two runs to the Yankees and otherwise would have been the story of the game. Turns out home runs make a lot of things better.

ADAM JONES HOME RUN REACTION

Aj-hr-reaction_medium

The next night the Orioles were having some trouble getting anything started against some tough pitching. Jonathan Schoop's solo homer tied it up, and a three-run blast from Adam Jones put the Orioles ahead. This is the moment that home run cleared the wall. Is clutch home-run hitting a repeatable skill? Sometimes it seems like it for Jones.

By the way, I think this GIF is the new most popular tweet from @OriolesGIFs.

DUGOUT REACTION TO AJ HR

Here are some of the guys in the Orioles' dugout reacting to the above home run. I just had to put this in for Steve Pearce and his throaty "WHOOOO" that you can practically hear coming out of the GIF. #TEAMSTEVE

CHEN CLAP

Was there a CHEN CLAP gif already? I'm starting to forget, but I know I've done some Wei-Yin Chen reactions before. This one is after a decent, but awkward, inning-ending catch by Nelson Cruz.

Here's a version that you can chant along with.

WIN COLUMN KICK

Win-column-kick_medium

The Orioles win to snap a rough losing streak (two whole games!), and Chris Davis does a high kick. If I wrote game recaps, the previous sentence would be the headline. It's probably for the best that I do this instead.

That's it for this week. Don't forget to vote below. Follow @OriolesGIFs for all of the GIF action all week long. Retweet some stuff. Send me your requests by tweeting at that handle. Thanks for watching!
