It's come to this. The Orioles enter the last game of the series against the Cubs looking to avoid a sweep against one of the weaker teams by record in MLB. They will have to triumph against a player who was once in the Orioles system but turned into completely wasted money: Tsuyoshi Wada. How does he have a 2.75 ERA in even a small sample size as a Cubs pitcher? How, indeed.
They'll have to do it without Cord Phelps, who's been designated for assignment to make room for Miguel Gonzalez to return to the roster to start Sunday's game. I don't know how they'll ever be able to recover from a loss like that.
The O's have scored a total of three runs in the first two games of this series. That's not going to fly for long. These are the games they're supposed to win, as they still won't see a team better than .500 until September 12. So, you know, let's go ahead and win today, Orioles. Thanks.
