A truncated slate of games yesterday, with just Norfolk, Delmarva, and Aberdeen in action

Christopher McCain/Norfolk Tides

Buffalo (Blue Jays) 7 Norfolk 4

Mike Wright struggled with giving up contact, allowing 9 hits over 5.2 innings of work. The good news is that only one of those hits went for extra bases, an RBI double in the 3rd where the runner scored from 1B. 5 runners allowed to reach base on Wright's watch would score, but just two of those would be considered 'earned'. A Jimmy Paredes throwing error led to the first of the 3 unearned runs by allowing a batter to reach 1B. But Wright compounded the problem by walking the next batter before allowing back-to-back singles. (LF) Quintin Berry helped Wright's cause out by throwing out a runner at home plate. This would mark the end of Wright's time in the game, but Brock Huntzinger would come on in relief an allow both inherited runners to score. So, while Wright's line isn't pretty, Paredes & Huntzinger certainly did him no favors.

The aforementioned Mr. Berry also went 4 for 5 at the dish. Christian Walker and Dariel Alvarez each knocked a double in mutual 1 for 4 efforts. Henry Urrutia DH'd and went 1 for 3 with a walk.

Greensboro (Marlins) 2 Delmarva 0 (Game 1)

Steven Brault allowed 2 ER over 5 IP, walking 3 and K'ing 4. (2B) Jeff Kemp managed 2 of the offense's 5 hits. Chance Sisco went 1 for 3 with 2 Ks. Josh Hart went 0 for 3 with a walk and a K.

Greensboro 2 Delmarva 0 (Game 2)

Second verse, same as the first. This was a make-up of the postponed game from Sunday. This time the Shorebirds managed just 1 hit and 1 walk, each belonging to (RF) Anthony Vega. So, good effort there fellas...Janser Severino K'd 8 over 5 1-run innings, but he also allowed 9 hits in that span.

Aberdeen 6 Williamsport (Phillies) 3

A veritable offensive explosion for the Ironbirds, as they pounded out 9 hits, including 5 doubles. (2B) Stephen Wilkerson accounted for 2 of those doubles. ( C ) Alex Murphy went 1 for 4 with a double, a stolen base, and 2 RBI. 5 Ironbird pitchers combined to limit Williamsport to 5 hits and 2 walks, while earning 7 Ks.
