Bowie Baysox 4, Portland Sea Dogs 7
The Baysox and Sea Dogs went into the ninth inning tied, but relief pitcher Julio DePaula gave up three runs in just 2/3 of an inning to untie it in a hurry. Knuckleballer Eddie Gamboa is back from his PED suspension and he is definitely rusty. He walked six batters and threw four wild pitches en route to giving up four runs in 4 1/3 innings.
On offense, 1B Chris Marrero homered and LF Glynn Davis. No Baysox had more than one hit. CF Mike Yastrzemski went 0-for-5 and C Michael Ohlman was 0-for-3 with a walk.
Frederick Keys 3, Carolina Mudcats 11
The Keys scored just three runs despite getting ten hits. SS Adrian Marin had two singles and 3B Jason Esposito singled and doubled. C Wynston Sawyer homered for his only hit in the game.
Parker Bridwell got beat up for seven runs (five earned) in just four innings. Bridwell gave up eight hits and two walks, and allowed one home run. Out of four Keys' pitchers, Lex Rutledge had the best night with two scoreless innings in which he allowed two hits and didn't walk a batter.
Aberdeen Ironbirds 2, Vermont Lake Monsters 4
The Ironbirds took a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning but the Monsters came back with four runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth. After four scoreless innings from starter Tanner Chleborad, both Stefen Crichton and Matt Trowbridge gave up two runs to blow the lead. Augey Bill pitched a scoreless inning.
Cory Segui, Stephen Wilkerson, and Justin Viele all doubled for the Ironbirds, with Segui being the only player with more than one hit (2). C Alex Murphy went 1-for-4.
