So, here we go. First of all, it's a day game. The Orioles did well under the sun on Wednesday afternoon, despite Joe Saunders' best efforts to cough it up. But all in all, day games stink.
Second, it is the start of Derek Jeter's final series at Camden Yards ever. Ugh!
He's a great baseball player. He is going into the Hall of Fame one day. We understand all this fully. But come on! Do we need to have a gift presentation in every town he comes to? Do we need a patch on the Yankees' jerseys? The guy didn't die. He's right there! He is WEARING THE PATCH!! Patches are almost exclusively awarded posthumously. Ya can't cheat the system, Jeter.
The baseball-loving world is on Yankee overload. The team has not been much more than mediocre the last two seasons, yet they still manage to grab the headlines with their little "retirement tours".
No one is allowed to retire in a pinstripe uniform for, like, five years. We need time to recuperate.
Anyway, there is a game today...
