Thursday Bird Droppings

The Orioles notched their 92nd win last night. I want 100! The Angels joined them as division winners yesterday when they beat the Mariners. The O's are behind the Angels by three games for best record in baseball.

Should a Nats-Orioles World Series be the Beltway Series, the Parkway Series, or something else? | The Washington Post
Well it definitely should NOT be the Beltway Series, since the DC and Baltimore Beltways are completely separate. If you have to use beltway, you also have to put an S at the end of it. Also, it sounds stupid.

How Buck Showalter brought back the Oriole Way | SportsonEarth.com
Warm and fuzzies for both Buck Showalter and Dan Duquette.

Just one former Oriole has a birthday today: Harvey Haddix. Haddix pitched in the majors for 14 seasons, his final two with the O's in 1964-5.

On this day in 2012, Taylor Teagarden had a pinch-hit RBI single in the 18th inning to give the Orioles a 4-2 lead over the Mariners. Shockingly, Jesus Montero did not come back in the bottom of the inning to hit a walk off and the Orioles won the marathon game.

(As always, thanks to Baseball Reference for the birthdays and history lessons)
