Game 143: Orioles (83-59) @ Red Sox (63-80), 7:10

The first place Orioles open up a three game series against the last place Red Sox on Monday night. Miguel Gonzalez and Joe Kelly are the starting pitchers for the game.

As I mentioned in discussing the lineups this afternoon, it's fun to say last place Boston Red Sox. That's who the Orioles will be playing here tonight, the last place Boston Red Sox. They are not even favored against the last place Red Sox, at least as far as Vegas seems to think. Well, it is a road game - but the Orioles have been good on the road. Perhaps they're concerned over the Orioles continuing lack of J.J. Hardy.

Hardy is not even in Boston for this series. He's been sent back to Baltimore for evaluation on his back, and despite the fact that the Orioles keep claiming it's a precaution and they're just being ultra conservative to rest him for the playoffs, you kind of have to wonder if that's what is really going on. I guess we'll find out for ourselves in a few days.

In the meantime, the Orioles magic number starts out the night at 12 games. The Yankees are off on Monday night, so the only way for it to go down is to win. Make this thing happen, O's. We don't want to go watch football instead.
