It is Friday night. There will not be any partying because no matter what happens, a team that I don't like will win this game. The Royals might even clinch back-to-back World Series appearances, which would be really annoying. There is no way that a result to this game will not end up being annoying. The game itself will probably be annoying, although being as it is the American League matchup on Fox Sports 1, we will, at least, be spared the commentary of Harold Reynolds.
As far as the game itself - I don't know. The narrative of David Price trying to show he belongs in the postseason is one that will get some attention, but narratives have a tendency to be boring and hackish by their nature. If he pitches poorly, it's not an indictment of his talent as a pitcher or of his career, but people will act like it is. If Price pitches well and his bullpen blows the game in the eighth or ninth inning, idiots will act like that counts against Price too, much like some of those same idiots count the fact that the 1997 Orioles bullpen was horrible in that ALCS against Mike Mussina.
So that's what's up. Who do you want to win tonight? Who do you think will end up winning? Can the Jays keep the Royals from celebrating at least another day, or will we find our World Series set and be without baseball for a few days more?
