Atlanta Braves rumors: Braves among "finalists" to sign Darren O'Day - Talking Chop
So, the SBNation sites for the Nats and the Braves both have their teams spin on being "in the running" for Darren O'Day. I think we all know, deep in our hearts, where he's not going to sign. Sigh...

Steve Melewski talks Orioles Off-season " CBS Baltimore
Steve Melewski from MASN Sports joined the Scott Garceau Show with Jeremy Conn to talk about the Orioles recent trade with the Mariners and whether the Orioles will be able to hang on to some of their key players this off-season.

Orioles Manny Machado, Ubaldo Jimenez, Mark Trumbo scheduled to miss FanFest - Baltimore Sun
"Pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez and newly acquired first baseman/designated hitter Mark Trumbo are scheduled to miss FanFest on Dec. 12 at the Baltimore Convention Center. Jimenez and Trumbo both have previously scheduled personal commitments, and won't be in attendance. Third baseman Manny Machado is not currently scheduled to be at FanFest, either, but the club is still hoping its young star can attend the annual offseason fan-themed event."

Happy Birthday to former Orioles Gene Harris, Bill Swaggerty, Gary Roenicke, and John Papa. They share it with famous people like 1377 - Jianwen Emperor of China; 1782 - Martin Van Buren, 8th US president; 1839 - Gen. George Armstrong Custer, underestimator of Native Americans; 1899 - Sonny Boy Williamson, blues pioneer; 1901 - Walt Disney, businessman; 1901 - Werner Heisenberg, German physicist (I think it's his birthday, can't be sure); 1902 - Sen. Strom Thurmond; 1932 - Little Richard; 1953 - Larry Zbyszko, The Living Legend; 1957 - Art Monk, NFL wide receiver, whom I'm guessing could still beat the entirety of the Ravens' secondary in the 40 yard dash; 1960 - Jack Russell, singer, Great White; 1963 - Doctor Dre, O.G.; 1965 - Johnny Rzeznik, Goo Goo Dolls, one of punkrawka's favorite bands, apparently; and 1985 - Frankie Muniz, American actor.

On this day in Orioles history...

1998 - The Orioles sign free agent 1B Will Clark to a two-year contract. That's pretty much it.

In other happenings around the globe on this date...

771 - Charlemagne becomes the sole King of the Franks after the death of his brother Carloman.
1349 - 500 Jews of Nuremberg massacre during Black Death riots
1456 - Earthquake strikes Naples; about 35,000 die
1840 - Napoleon Bonaparte receives a French state funeral in Paris 19 years after his death
1848 - President Polk triggers Gold Rush of 1849 by confirming gold discovery in California
1933 - 21st Amendment to the US Constitution ratified, 18th Amendment (Prohibition of alcohol) repealed

As my beloved Maryland Terrapins lost on penalty kicks to Clemson in the quarterfinals of the College Cup, the NCAA mens' soccer season is no longer of interest to me. So, consider this your discussion space for NCAA Wrestling - Maryland vs Drexel. Hmm, 5 p.m. start. I bet I could make it...
