I'm certainly no legal scholar, but I fail to see how a loss of the exemption would harm MLB. The financial clout to start up and compete with them would not seem to exist in my view. Perhaps that could change when / if the current RSN & TV contract bubble pops.

Today is the birthday of the late Kevin Hickey. After toiling in the minors for half a decade he came to the O's in 1989 and was a force out of the bullpen for those Why Not? Birds. On this date in 1975 the O's traded Boog Powell to Cleveland for catcher (and future pitching guru) Dave Duncan.
