Orioles spring training game thread vs. Rays, 1:05pm

One day after playing to a tie, the Orioles and Rays are playing again, this time in Sarasota. You can't watch it on TV or radio, though, because there's no broadcast at all.

Tommy Gilligan-USA TODAY Sports

The biggest sign that Kevin Gausman isn't going to start out in the Orioles rotation is probably on display today as he starts a spring training game against the Rays. Manager Buck Showalter is almost religious about keeping his regular starting pitchers from facing division opponents in the last stretch of spring training. It's why Tyler Wilson got a start against the Yankees over the weekend and why Zach Davies started yesterday.

And here we are with Gausman against the Rays today. It's not a good sign if you want to see him in the MLB rotation. Maybe it's like my friend and predecessor Stacey says and Gausman will start the home opener, which will be against a different division opponent, the Blue Jays.

This game will not be on either the radio or television anywhere. That's the final spring training game where this will be the case. There are four games left after today. Then, real baseball.
