Orioles Opening Day GameThread: vs. Rays, 3:10 Eastern

Orioles. Rays. The season begins now. Join us for another year of revelry, angst, and everything in between.

Joy R. Absalon-USA TODAY Sports

Opening Day is the one day all year where all things are possible. Orioles fans, in recent years, have at last been able to indulge ourselves by thinking that many of the possibilities are good ones. There were no rational arguments to make, before the 2012 season, that the team would be good that year. They were good anyway and that was awesome. Three years later, here we sit with the Orioles coming off of a division championship, which was also awesome.

Where will this season end? No one knows. Maybe they'll win the World Series. That would be the most awesome thing yet. This lineup does not look like the lineup you'd imagine if the Orioles were going to do so, but then neither did most of the lineups last year, and in any case the O's have one player returning from suspension tomorrow and two more crucial contributors who will soon be returning.

Whatever happens today, it is only one game. If they look good, there are 161 games to go. If they look bad, there are 161 games to go. This is all the Orioles we've had since October, though, so here's hoping they look good.
