Orioles Minor League Rundown: 5-18-15

Just two games on the docket, but the Baby Birds take both of 'em.

Couldn't find a Conor Bierfeldt pic, so we'll go with TeamSteve here instead. The Pride of Pigtown!

Norfolk 9, Louisville (Reds) 3

Sustained offense and solid pitching were a winning combination for the Tides. 15 hits, including 3 apiece from Chris Parmelee and Steve Clevenger, powered the bats. While Chris Jones spun 7 innings while allowing just 5 hits and 3 runs. Clevenger belted his 2nd dinger of the season, and Parmelee is now slashing a nifty .347 / .428 / .486 on the season. Nolan went 2 for 4 with a walk. And Paul Janish had an eventful day: 2 for 2 with 2 walks for a perfect day at the plate. But he also got thrown out at 3B and committed a throwing error. Dariel Alvarez with a not so lovely day: 0 for 5 with a K and a GIDP.

Lakewood (Phillies) 3, Delmarva 4

The Shorebirds walked it off in the 9th, literally. Conor Bierfeldt drew a walk-off walk to lift Delmarva to their 20th win of the season. A Jared Breen lead off single opened the innings, followed by a walk, a sac bunt, and an intentional walk to load the bases which set the table for Bierfeldt. He also smacked his 5th dinger of the season in the 8th to tie the game. Gotta be a pretty significant WPA (Win Probability Added) for Conor in this one. Jomar Reyes added 2 hits and a walk of his own.

John Means was hittable over his 5.2 innings of work, as he allowed 9 hits and 3 ER in that span. But the 'pen was solid, spinning 3 and a third scoreless to give the 'Birds a chance to mount a comeback.

Your Full-Slate of Tuesday Games Probables are:

Norfolk: (RHP) Zach Davies looks to put his name in the conversation for 'next pitcher to be called up'

Bowie: (RHP) Parker Bridwell has alternated good & not-so-good starts over his last 5. He's due for a good one here.

Frederick: (LHP) Luis Gonzalez coughed up 8 ER in an inning and two-thirds last time. Can't get much worse!

Delmarva: (LHP) Brian Gonzalez righted himself with 6 strong innings of work last time out following 2 bad starts previous.
