The Orioles are 4-3 in games started by Miguel Gonzalez, which may be a function of how many runs the Orioles have scored for him than how he's pitched. They've scored more runs for Gonzalez than any other starter. His ERA, at 2.93, isn't bad, but he's only pitched six innings or more in four of his seven starts.
Maybe they can keep doing that tonight. The Mariners' Taijuan Walker has been bad so far in 2015. Like a 7.22 ERA bad. He's averaging under five innings per start in his seven starts, has walked a lot of guys, and has given up six home runs in only 33.1 innings of work. On the other hand, he's also struck out 33 batters, and I think we all know which the Orioles are more likely to do out of striking out and walking. Walker has never faced the Orioles before and O's hitters have only faced him a combined five times.
We also know how the Orioles tend to do against bad pitchers.
Both the O's and Mariners have disappointed a bit to this point in the season. Both are three games below .500 and looking to improve.
