Syracuse (Nationals) 1 Norfolk 3
Though T.J. McFarland got the start, he was pulled after just 1 inning in case the O's decide they require him during tomorrow's double-header. Eddie Gamboa then got the bulk of the day's work and stymied the Syracusians as thoroughly as Roman commander Marcus Claudius Marcellus. Gamblor allowed no hits or runs over 6 innings and whiffed 4. He did walk 4, hit 1, and let loose a wild pitch but hey...these things happen when the knuckler is flutterin'.
The Tides' offense was balanced, with only lead-off man Ryan Flaherty failing to record a basehit, though he did walk twice. Nolan Riemold and Christian Walker each socked doubles for their only hits of the game.
Erie (Tigers) 2 Bowie 4
No Bundy, no problem for the Baysox as Jhonathan Ramos takes the spot start and Ks 6 over 5 shutout innings of work. The usually reliable Marcel Prado coughed up two runs over 1.2 innings of relief, but otherwise the 'pen was solid. Mychal Givens recorded his 8th Save of the season.
Offensively, Matt Wieters commenced his rehab with a 2 for 4 night at the dish, but more importantly he was able to throw out a runner attempting to steal 2B. Brandon Snyder has also recently returned from injury, too! He clubbed a 2 run dinger in the 8th to give the Baysox the lead they would not relinquish.
Delmarva 4 Hickory (Rangers) 9
The Shorebirds lost their first two pitchers of the night, Sebastian Vader and Zeke McGranahan, to injury. But they persevered, and kept the game close through 7 and a 1/2 innings, before a 4 run outburst in the 8th blew the game open. No word on either injury, but man they sure do come in bunches it seems, with both Bundys, Kline, and Derrick Bleeker all suffering some ailment recently.
Nick Cunningham tossed 3.1 innings of scoreless relief after McGranahan allowed 4ER via 3 walks and 2 hits allowed. Cunningham was followed by Dariel Delgado who put up 2 scoreless innings of his own before getting pinched by the Crawdads in the 8th, where he allowed the 4-spot (3 runs earned).
Jomar Reyes went 1 for 2 and walked twice. Conor Bierfeldt's SLG inched up a tick or so with a double. He also doubled up a runner straying off 1B too far on a flyout. Love me some OF Assists. After his 2 error game yesterday, Ronarsy Ledesma Kd thrice in four ABs today. Rough coupla days.
