Norfolk and Bowie were off.

Frederick Keys vs. Lynchburg Hillcats (PPD)

Delmarva Shorebirds 2, Lakewood BlueClaws 4 (7)

The Shorebirds were unable to hold off the BlueClaws in a rain shortened affair. Newish catcher Yermin Mercedes had an uneventful day behind the dish and singled. The 22 year old Dominican from the beach town of La Romana has spent three seasons with the DSL Nats, but did not play last year. Former Reds farmhand Logan Uxa also did not play last season and is slashing  .279/.354/.535, though at 24, he's pretty old for the Sally League. Uxa doubled and walked as did Jomar Reyes. Jay Gonzales did NOT walk, but singled and was caught stealing for the third time this season. Starting for the first time this season, Nick Cunningham went four innings, allowed a run and struck out three. In his second game in full season ball, 2014 draft pick Lucas Long allowed three earned runs in three innings, but struck out four.

DSL Update

The Orioles are again fielding two squads in the Dominican Summer League. Their squad playing at the Boca Chica Baseball City (AKA DSL Orioles 1) complex is 1-1 while the team playing at Boca Chica South (AKA DSL Orioles 2) is 0-2
