It's Friday and there's still no Adam Jones in the Orioles lineup. There's also still no Adam Jones on the Orioles disabled list, although supposedly, if he can't play tomorrow after having done some throwing today, then Jones will be hitting the disabled list at that time. We'll see if that actually turns out to be the case. I feel like we have heard things very similar to this story before.
What a weird lineup, though, right? Maybe you thought we were done with Chris Davis in right field back in 2012, but you would have been wrong. I guess maybe the O's want someone with a little more familiarity with Camden Yards playing out there, seeing as how Chris Parmelee has less awareness of how to handle bounces off the out of town scoreboard or something... actually I have no idea what's up with that. Life is strange.
This Orioles lineup gets to face the reigning AL Cy Young tonight in Corey Kluber. If there's a hard luck pitcher in the league this season it's Kluber, who has eaten a 3-9 W-L record while accumulating a relatively decent 3.65 ERA. That ERA wouldn't have him repeating the Cy Young award but it's probably worth an even record. Kluber's problem isn't even HIS problem, per se, it's that he has the absolute lowest run support average - 2.17 - out of all MLB starting pitchers.
So if the pattern holds true, it'll be more about what the Indians offense is able to do against Wei-Yin Chen in his return from his brief Frederick exile. No one on the Cleveland roster has seen much of Chen, so as far as what happens tonight, it's a big mystery. Hopefully it goes well for Chen.
