The Sunday afternoon Orioles game thread: at Indians

Bud Norris returns to the Orioles for the rubber game of this series against the Indians. Whether that proves to be a good thing is still to be determined.

Adam Hunger-USA TODAY Sports

Right now the Orioles offense is so bad at scoring that they probably couldn't score marijuana in Denver. So that's just the problem you want to have when the team has just activated from the disabled list Bud Norris, who sports a 9.88 ERA this year. Norris was bad in spring training, bad before he got bronchitis, and bad in two of his three rehab starts.

If Bud were to have an abbreviated outing, there will at least be an off day for the Orioles tomorrow to give the bullpen a chance to catch its breath. Though Brian Matusz is suspended, they aren't a man down in the 'pen at the moment as they've chosen to play with a short bench instead. The bench is Caleb Joseph, Steve Pearce, and David Lough, so they really only have a bench in the technical sense, not the actual sense. Not that the bench would have looked so much better before Rey Navarro was optioned to make room for Norris.

If this game ends up being a disaster, or even if it's not especially a disaster but just not fun and it's repulsing you, you can always go watch the Women's World Cup instead. Norway vs. Thailand starts at 1. Germany vs. Ivory Coast starts at 4. The American team won't play their first game until tomorrow at 7:30pm.
