Norfolk Tides 0, Charlotte Knights 2

Kevin Gausman bested by Matt Albers? Dark times. The Goose only allowed an unearned run, but walked four in five innings. Clearly, the offense was not in tip top form today.

Bowie Baysox 8, Altoona Curve 2

Joe's your Gunkel and the Curve's, too. Nice bounceback start from the former Sea Dog. He allowed two earned runs over 5.2 innings and induced six groundouts. Jason Garcia allowed four baserunners in two shutout innings. The Baysox beat the stuffing out of former (for some) teammate Steven Brault. Trey Mancini hit an Earl Weaver special and Quincy Latimore doubled twice.

Frederick Keys 6, Salem Red Sox 2

Adrian Marin hit his team leading 17th double and Tad Gold homered (EWS) in his second career game in the Carolina League. David Hess struck out four and allowed an earned run in five innings.

Delmarva Shorebirds 3, Hagerstown Suns 1

Ademar Rifaela and Phildrick Llewellyn, who both totally exist, each drew two walks as the Shorebirds edged the Suns. Garrett Cortright  picked up his eighth save. Cortright has a pretty sweet 59% groundball this rate and has the best walk rate of his career (5%). Matthew Grimes allowed an earned run in seven innings and although he's sporting an unsightly 4.14 ERA, his FIP is 3.04. His strikeout rate this year has bumped up nearly seven percentage points over last season.

Aberdeen Ironbirds 9, Brooklyn Cyclones 3

Aside from a god-awful outing versus the Lowell Spinners, Travis Seabrooke has been pretty decent this season despite not having seen live in game action since 2013. The Peterborough, Ontario native allowed an earned run and five innings. Jay Flaa finished the game and has yet to allow an earned run in his pro career. Cedric Mullins had a monster game with a homer, two singles, two walks and his sixth steal of the season. D.J. Stewart singled and drove in a run while Steve Laurino homered and walked three times.
