Saturday night and we in the spot. Unfortunately, that spot is fourth place, five games out of the lead in the American League East, which is probably not the kind of funk that the song envisioned. I don't think the Orioles funk would be headed to the top of the charts at all, in fact.
What we have here is a matchup that will give you no confidence that tonight will bring an end to the funk, either. Chris Tillman might have been good last year and the year before... but not this year. And David Price, on the other hand, is awesome this year. It's a bad sign for a team that really needs to get back in the win column, because the time to get a move on and make decisions for the rest of the year is basically upon us now.
So it's only one game, but given where they are right now it feels like so much more. And in this one game... Steve Pearce is hitting second and J.J. Hardy is hitting sixth... look, I don't know, alright. I don't have an answer for you. I don't think the Orioles have an answer for you either. They're just kind of going along with what they've got and hoping for the best and it's not working out very well.
Things suck right now, enough that I don't want to think about the Orioles any more. But I will, because I am apparently a glutton for punishment. You must be too, or you wouldn't be here. Well, let's get on with it then. Drink! ... ... ... responsibly.
