Seriously, Duquette, the Tigers are in town. Just go get Yoenis Cespedes and have him switch clubhouses somehow. Put Mychal Givens on the table. Whatever. This is the badass Cuban outfielder that you are waiting for.
The Tigers are in sell mode, which one might hope would mean the Orioles can skate through this series and maybe win three out of four... but we know it's not that easy, even with the Tigers presently bereft of the services of Miguel Cabrera. They've traded David Price. By tomorrow's game, Cespedes may be gone. Do it! Get to the chopper!
Unexpectedly, or at least to me, the Orioles are now winners of five straight. They go now for six in a row. One barrier standing in their way on that quest is a former Oriole from some of the dark years, Alfredo Simon. It's really kind of stunning that it's 2015 and Simon is in the starting rotation of a team that began the year believing it was a contender. Gosh, no wonder that didn't work out, you know?
Our old buddy Weak Sauce sports a 4.46 ERA on the season, which is a high enough ERA that you should really be worried about how the team will perform against him in this game. We saw this kind of thing in effect in last night's game against the Braves; though the Orioles won thanks to blanking Atlanta's offense, they nonetheless only scored two runs against Mike Foltynewicz, who came into the game with a 5+ ERA. I won't get my hopes up that they'll keep the winning streak rolling. You shouldn't either.
