Norfolk 0 Durham (Rays) 2
Zach Davies went the distance for the Tides (8 IP, 4 H (1 HR, his first allowed all season), 1 BB, 1 HBP, 2 ER, 3 Ks; 99 pitches, 64 strikes) but he was denied any run support from his offense. This was Zach's longest outing of his career in terms of innings. His 2.75 ERA over 75.1 IP is supported by a 2.73 FIP. So this is no mirage. He has managed to improve his stats at each level without having to repeat any levels. Oh, and he's still just 22. Kiddo needs to be getting some more national prospect chattering class attention. Andrew_Lew and myself are going to adopt him.
No one on offense did anything bearing mention. And wasting such a great outing by your starter? To that I ring a bell and chant 'SHAME! SHAME!'
Erie (Tigers) 1 Bowie 1 (Delayed in the 6th at the time of this typing)
Parker Bridwell went 5 IP, allowing 4 hits, 2 BBs, and 1 ER while striking out 2. Make it 4 consecutive good to great outings for him. 26 IP, 19 H, 4 BBs, 7 ER, 22 Ks over that span. I remain firm in my belief in him.
Jason Garcia tossed a clean top of the 6th in his first rehab outing. David Freitas hit his 5th HR of the season, accounting for all of the offense thus far.
Frederick 3 Winston-Salem (White Sox) 1
Chance Sisco scored from 1B in the 9th via a groundball single and a dropped relay catch to give the Keys a late lead. Chris Lee continues to impress with 6.1 shutout innings. He did walk 4 but also induced 2 GIDP, K'd 3, and generated 11 groundouts to just 3 flyouts. Cody Wheeler K'd 2 in a clean 9th for his 12th Save.
Delmarva 2 West Virginia (Pirates) 5 (Resumed from 7/5)
Max Schuh tossed 3 innings of scoreless relief today, but the damage had already been done. The offense totaled just 3 hits and 2 walks to 9 Ks. blech
Delmarva 4 West Virginia 3 (7 innings)
Josh Walker yielded 3 runs (2 earned) via 7 hits over just 4.2 innings, but Stefan Crichton picked up the slack with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. The first 4 hitters went a combined 8 for 16 with 2 HRs and 3 RsBI. HRs courtesy of Stephen Wilkerson and Logan Uxa.
Aberdeen 6 Mahoning Valley (Cleveland) 3
D.J. Stewart hit his first pro dinger, a solo shot in the 9th, and went 2 for 5 overall. Cedric Mullins took an uncharacteristic 0 for 5. Travis Seabrooke worked 6 strong innings, allowing just 1 ER and 3 hits while striking out 3.
