Norfolk 3 Gwinnett (Atlanta) 2
Mike Wright went 7, allowing 6 hits, 3 walks, and 2 ERs while striking out 3. Michael Almanzar provided the pop, going 3 for 4 with 2 2Bs and 2 RBI. Steve Clevenger went 2 for 4 with a run scored and helped complete a strike-em-out-throw-em-out DP in the 8th. Dariel Alvarez took and 0-4 w/ a K.
Akron 2 (Cleveland) Bowie 3
Terry Doyle K'd 7 over 6 innings while yielding just 2 ERs. His ERA actually rose from 2.09 to 2.16. Tough day at the office. He's 29 and pitching in AA, but he is having a dominate season. Nice org depth find, Duq'. Trey Mancini and Brandon Snyder each went 2-4, with Snyder hitting his 8th dinger in the 2nd. Mike Yaz went 1-2 with a sac fly.
Frederick 3 Wilmington (Royals) 6
Ariel Miranda got lit up for 4 runs in the 1st and ultimately allowed 5 ER over just 3 IP. He did K 6 though. The offense responded with a 3 spot in the 2nd, but could muster no more from then on. Brenden Webb hit an Earl Weaver Special and notched an OF Assist, causing me to remember why I fell in love with his talent so many years ago now...Both Josh Hart and Chance Sisco took 0-4s.
Delmarva 1 Hagerstown (Nats) 4
5 hits vs. 10 Ks for the offense. That's sub-optimal. With no Jomar Reyes Delmarva is basically a wasteland in terms of positional prospects. There's really nothing to say regarding any Shorebird that played in this game. That's concerning for the future health of the O's. But that's what happens when you fail to spend internationally, forfeit draft picks, trade away draft picks, trade away young players you already have in the system, and draft poorly with the picks you do have. sigh...
