Joey Gardner

Norfolk Tides 4, Indianapolis Indians 5

With Tyler Wilson ailing, pretty much the whole bullpen was called into action. Some answered the call, some did not.  Dana Eveland and Jorge Rondon combined for five shutout innings, but walked five. Cesar Cabral allowed four hits and three earned runs in .2 innings. The winning pitcher for the Indians was catcher Wilkin Castillo. Think on THAT for a moment. Rey Navarro singled and doubled and Dariel Alvarez singled twice.

Bowie Baysox 8, New Hampshire FisherCats 0

Nick Additon marked his return to the organization with six shutout innings. Baysox pitchers allowed four hits and didn't allow any walks. Quincy Latimore homered and doubled. After slugging .660 in July, Latimore had cooled a bit in August, though has continued to get on base. Corban Joseph also doubled.

Frederick Keys 2, Myrtle Beach Pelicans 10

Pretty rough game for all Keys not named Josh Hart. The 20 year old outfielder from Georgia singled three times and tripled and contributed an outfield assist. He's slashing .375/.394/.469 this month. Chance Sisco singled, walked and threw out a baserunner. The Keys had their opportunities, though, as they put fourteen men on base, but were only 1-10 with runners in scoring position.

Delmarva Shorebirds 2, Hagerstown Suns 8

The Shorebirds committed five errors in this one (including two by Guillermo Salas). Hard to win games that way...especially when you're 1-8 with runners in scoring position. Jomar Reyes was held hitless and although Yermin Mercedes reached base a couple times, he's suffered a bit of a power outage of late. Tanner Scott struck out four in 2.1 innings, but allowed four runs.

Aberdeen Ironbirds 3, Hudson Valley Renegades 2

Canadian lefty Travis Seabrooke posted his best outing today holding the Renegades scoreless in five innings. Seabrooke's sinker was working today as he induced eleven groundouts. The Ironbirds had ten hits and struck out eleven times without drawing a walk. Top pick D.J. Stewart was 1-4.
