MLB.com Power Rankings (14th; Last Week: 14th)
MLB has revamped their presentation of the Power Rankings, and now only go to 20 places. The O's were ranked 14th in the Experts poll (75% weight) and 14th in the Fans' Poll, so they are 14th overall. Also known as the exact same spot they were last week. Going 4-4 on a West Coast road trip when most people are asleep will do that, I suppose.

"Newton's first law states that every object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless compelled to change its state by the action of an external force." At least, according to NASA. Inertia is a pretty powerful force, and it seems to be guiding the Orioles to a .500 record pretty convincingly. "On a tough West Coast road trip, the Orioles are doing their best to hang in the playoff chase. Chris Davis has been on fire and Jonathan Schoop, Manny Machado and Caleb Joseph have all been hitting well." -- Matt Kremnitzer (@mattkremnitzer), Camden Depot

I honestly have no idea why Sports Illustrated thinks the O's are the 12th best team in MLB. Couldn't tell you. Not a clue.
FoxSports.com Power Rankings (13th ; LW 13th)
FoxSports and the fine folks at Baseball Prospectus decided to have a bit of mean-spirited fun in this synopsis this week: "The Orioles are attempting to nip their rotation problems in the bud, asking Kevin Gausman to stop the bleeding while they're still in the hunt for a playoff spot (three games back of the WC2)." Oh, I see what you did there, FoxSports.

Matt Snyder over at the Tiffany Network drops the O's one spot. "Since the All-Star break, Chris Davis has 12 homers and 31 RBI in 24 games. Crush, baby, Crush."
USA Today Power Rankings (13th; LW 14th)
The Nation's Newspaper renews its case for president of the Chris Davis fan club, focusing on him for a second straight week. "Chris Davis' 28 RBI leads the majors post All-Star Game." Because if there's a stat that matters above all in MLB, it's RBI, right?

Jonah Keri leaves the O's right where he found them at the beginning of last week, in 13th.
Bleacher Report Power Rankings (13th; LW 14th)
When last we got a real rankings column out of Slideshow Central two weeks ago, they had the Orioles 14th. They're up one spot in half a month. "A resurgent Chris Davis (22 G, 1.114 OPS, 10 HR, 28 RBI) and a healthy Jonathan Schoop (22 G, .352 BA, .931 OPS) have led the offensive attack here in the second half, and Davis is seeing his free-agent value climb with each passing game."
