Norfolk Tides 2, Columbus Clippers 5

Is Chris Jones in the team's future? The Orioles acquired him as a 24 year old in AA in 2013 and have kept him in the system. Jones has made more starts the past two seasons than in the previous seven combined. Notably, Jones has made eighteen starts this season and is enjoying his best minor league season to date and serviceable lefties don't grow on trees. Jones struck out five and allowed two earned runs in seven innings against the Clippers. Dariel Alvarez singled and doubled and Christian Walker made his contribution to #theyearofthetriple. Pedro Beato gave away the game in the 8th.

Bowie Baysox 7, Trenton Thunder 3

It ain't exactly Murderer's Row, but the combination of Chance Sisco, Trey Mancini, Quincy Latimore and Brandon Snyder makes for a fairly potent brew. Latimore and Sisco homered (Sisco's first at AA), Snyder doubled and along with Mancini made his own sacrifice to the gods of #theyearofthetriple (Drew Dosch tripled, as well). The Baysox were shutout fro five innings by, I kid you not, a guy named Rookie Davis. Ariel Miranda turned in his sixth straight quality start for the Baysox and n00b Taylor Stoffel was effective in relief.

Frederick Keys 1, Lynchburg HillCats 2 (1)

Garrett Cortright has seen his stock rise this season and has been equal to the hype. Since his promotion to Frederick, Cortright hasn't allowed a single earned run. He threw two scoreless innings in this game. Josh Hart was feeling #theyearofthetriple love.

Frederick Keys 2, Lynchburg HillCats 0 (2)

Savvy veteran Mikey O'Brien was a little too much for the HillCats. Perhaps the Salem native feels an affinity for Carolina League ball, but in any case he pitched a seven inning no hitter, striking out seven along the way. Not even Sicnarf Loopstook could save the HillCats. Hitting back to back, Austin Wynns and Adrian Marin were 4-6 with three doubles.

Delmarva Shorebirds 9, Greenville Drive 4

Ballyhooed Red Sox prospects Yoan Moncada and Andrew Benintendi were outshined by Ademar Aloysius Bertty Rifaela. The 20 year old outfielder was unable to borrow a triple from his elders and, thus, fell shy of a cycle. JOmar Reyes singled.
