Bowie 10, Reading 3
The Baysox offense jumped all over Reading pitching early, putting up eight runs over the first four innings. Mike Yastzemski opened up the attack with a one-out double in the first. Garabaz Rosa plated him with a single. In the 2nd, a Corban Joseph double brought in the second run, just before Mike Yastrzemski drove in Glynn Davis via a sac fly. The 3rd brought in two more runs, with Chance Sisco and Drew Dosch scoring via Glynn Davis' triple. If the game wasn't already out of hand, a three-run 4th made it so. Mike Yaz and Trey Mancini opened the frame with walks. Quincy Latimore's double knocked in Yaz, and Mancini came into score thanks to Garabaz Rosa's second RBI single of the night; Latimore was thrown out at home on the play.
It was a big night all down the lineup card. Corban Joseph went 2-5 with a double, a walk, and an RBI. Mike Yaz went 1-4 with a triple, a walk, and an RBI. Trey Mancini was the only member of the lineup held hitless (0-2), but he did draw 3 free passes. Garabez Rosa finished 3-5 with the two RBI and two runs scored. The 6 through 9 hitters each had one hit, drew one walk, and scored at least one run.
Oh, and the pitching was pretty good, too. Nick Additon went 7+ strong innings, allowing just 4 hits (1 HR) and 1 HBP. He allowed all 3 runs (2 earned) and K'd 2. Ashur Tolliver K'd 2 in his 1 inning of relief, while Jason Stoffel and Gene Escat combined to close out the 9th.
The series will shift to Bowie tonight at 6:35, with Chris Lee taking on Jake Thompson. If you're in the area go out and support the good guys!
