Nothing about this lineup looks like something that would be good enough to beat Max Scherzer. Then again, that was true yesterday about Gio Gonzalez and yesterday's lineup and they found a way anyway despite committing three errors and hitting no home runs. Baseball is weird sometimes.
But tonight it's Scherzer, and the O's will be without Adam Jones, who was responsible for both of the runs the Orioles scored against Scherzer when last they saw him. Jones hit two home runs off Scherzer. No one else scored in the game. Yikes.
One other thing at play in this game tonight is that the right fielder is Ryan Flaherty. The last time Flaherty played in right field, it was 2012. Flaherty joked with Orioles reporters that he was going to need to borrow an outfield glove from somebody and at least one of those reporters is convinced that Flaherty was not joking but rather making a true, humorous statement. That is to say that Flaherty probably really does need to borrow somebody's outfield glove. After watching Junior Lake and Steve Pearce last night, hopefully the glove doesn't belong to either one of them.
Actually, Pearce is in the game again tonight, in left field, where he has looked vaguely more comfortable. Maybe no more horrible dropped catch errors from him?
